The Flemish Hydrography team carries out soundings of the seabed and the Scheldt and also locates wrecks. Our employees bring all this information together on sea and Scheldt charts. Changes to the charts will be published in the Notices to Mariners.
The team also collects hydrometeorological data that is used for tide tables, current atlases and the coastal weather forecast. The data is also used in hydraulic engineering projects, offshore activities, research and environmental protection.
The Flemish Hydrography team is a member of the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO). This organization is the umbrella organization for hydrographic services worldwide and ensures the international standards to which all publications must comply.
A number of data are indispensable for a safe trip to or at sea. The Flemish Hydrography provides up-to-date navigation maps, tide data and information about the current.
All soundings of the Flemish Hydrography can be found in the bathymetric database and for information about wrecks you can visit the wreck database. Also, discover more about the Kwinte acoustic reference zone.
Flemish Hydrography collects hydrometeorological data via a monitoring network at sea and ashore. We use this data to prepare tide tables, current atlases and the coastal weather forecast.
